Tory Lanez Vs. Joyner Lucas: Who Won?

Recently, Tory Lanez took to Instgram live his belief of him as a rapper. In the video, he states that he surpasses all the competition lyrically. Lanez brings up names like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, insists that he can outrap them, and concludes with a shot at Joyner Lucas. Lanez brags, "The Joyner kid? He's nice but he can't [expletive] with me, on no level, period."

Lucas, being the battle rapper he is, challenged Lanez moments after, stating the two should see who would win going toe to toe. Lanez would respond hours later with his "Lucky You Freestyle."

The spin off is of the Eminem-Lucas hit from earlier in the year. Lanez trades his melodic tunes for fast flows. He brags about his status in rap and does pretty well doing so. With metaphors of the video games Super Smash Bros. and Philly cheesesteaks, he definitely holds his own on the track. However, Lanes falls critically short in a strong category; the content. The lyrical substances is pretty much...nothing. Lanez just boasts for around two and a half minutes and barely takes a shot a Lucas. Lucas sees right through this and capitalizes.

His response is in the form of "Litty Freestyle," a track off of Meek Mill's DC4. Lucas brings his A-game, rapid bars, and wordplay to the proverbial table. He even includes a chorus, which is usually left out of a diss tracks. Overall, this is an actual insulting track, unlike the competitor. There's simply just more variety in this one between the flows, subject matter and everything else. Lucas even manages to squeeze in a few lines against Trippie Redd.

Overall, Tory Lanez bit off a little more than he could chew. Joyner Lucas is an artist that should not be toyed with, and when the opportunity to prove himself came, he ran with it. Lanez's song is just a song that says he can spit fast and aggressive while Lucas's has actual messages to a opponent with intent behind them.

Winner: Joyner Lucas
